Text: Isaiah 11:1-10

The prophet Isaiah lived in dark times. The nation had been conquered and broken. The people of Israel were scattered in exile. God’s promises seemed to have failed. Yet Isaiah held onto the hope that out of this stump a new shoot would be raised up, and life would begin again. Peace and wholeness – shalom – would be restored. As Christians, we continue to ask, “When does God’s Peace arrive?”
