Text: Job 14
This Sunday, the last Sunday before Advent, is Eternity Sunday where we remember our loved ones who have passed away. And so it’s appropriate that we read from Job 19, which includes the famous line… “For I know that my Redeemer lives…” Job declares his hope of seeing God in the flesh, even after our bodies have been destroyed. These are important words, but there are other important words in the book of Job that are also instructive. Can we join with Job in worshiping a God who provides hope? Can we do that even in the face of death?
