Strength, Weakness, and Allegiance to Christ – Kevin Guenther Trautwein

 September 17, 2023

What does it mean to be strong or weak? In the letter to the Romans, the apostle Paul offered words of encouragement and challenge to the strong and to the weak. Today, God still invites us to be people of light, both in our strength and in our weakness.

Scripture readings:

Exodus 14:19-31
Psalm 114
Romans 14:1-12
Matthew 18:21-35

Homework: Strong Religion is growing around the world today, and can be found in the news headlines this week. Search our church library for books about Christian history. How has the church has interacted with state power? What have we done well? How can we improve?

Heartwork: Consider the areas where you feel “strong” or “weak”. Do you look down on those who don’t have the same understanding as you? Do you judge those who have more freedom than you? How can you live in the way that you are fully convinced in your own mind without judging Jesus’ other servants?
