Luke 4:14-21
I suggest that Star Trek offers us a picture of the world as we often like to imagine it. And this picture of the world seems to provide for us a backdrop for how we hear and think about the Christian Gospel. In this sermon I take a look at this in the light of Jesus’ announcement of His Good News in Luke’s Gospel. There Jesus begins his ministry by reading from the prophet Isaiah – who was writing to Israel in exile and whose world was in chaos.
Is the world of Jesus’ Gospel like that portrayed for us in Star Trek? Or is there a different image that captures it better?
