Teaser: In today’s gospel, Jesus seems to suggest that he speaks to the crowd in parables in order to make his message more obscure, not less—almost as if he wants to hide the truth from the vast majority of the people, and reveal it only to his inner circle. What does this mean? Is the gospel for everyone, or not? And is it, perhaps, more difficult and enigmatic than we’ve been led to believe?
