The Miracle of Compassion – Sherri Guenther Trautwein

  October 6, 2024

In Mark 6 and Mark 8 we find two stories of miraculous feedings. The first in Jewish territory, the second among the Gentiles. In both stories, we read of Jesus’ compassion for the crowds and his surprising provision for their physical needs. The disciples are skeptical that they’ll be able to buy enough bread and fish, but Jesus shows them another way. This week as we continue our series, Walking with Jesus, we’ll consider the place of compassion in our life of faith and how cultivating compassion opens us up to God’s unexpected goodness and grace.

Scripture Focus: Mark 6:30-44 and 8:1-10
