Isaiah 40: 3 – 9; Luke 1: 5 – 80

There’s a voice in the wilderness calling:

“Prepare the way of the Lord.
Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”

Whose voice is this? Where does it get its authority? Who would dare speak for God in this way: “Through the desert of this world, clear a path for Me: for I am God, and I am coming!” After 400 years of silence? And what do the priest, Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth have to do with this strange voice?
