In Luke 14.1-14 we see Jesus at a dinner in the house of a leading Pharisee, healing and teaching on the Sabbath. Gently (or not so gently?) he invites his fellow-guests to move beyond insecurity and self-interest into the freedom of genuine humility and love for others. Once again, he is inviting us to experience the gospel of grace in our own lives, and to share it freely with others.
