In the Community

Mennonite Central Committee

Gaza and the Bible Webinar Series: Join Dr. Dan Epp-Tiessen for a three-part webinar series that looks at the historical causes and biblical interpretations that have given rise to the current conflict in Gaza. These Zoom webinars will take place on October 29, and November 5, at 6pm MST. Learn more and register at mcc.org/events.

Edmonton area churches: Monday, Nov. 3 at 2:00 pm. The Canadian Foodgrains Bank invites you to King’s University to hear Shepherd Tipo from World Renew, Uganda. She will talk about the work of empowering women in building community and family livelihoods. This is similar to work MCC does through it’s partners and CFGB.

Edmonton area churches: Interested in becoming part of a group of volunteer visitors at the Edmonton Institution for Women?  Many incarcerated women greatly value receiving visitors from the “outside”. Visitors break up the boredom, bring in a sense of normalcy, provide a listening ear, and help the women know they are not forgotten. No Room In the Inn

No Room In the Inn Campaign is a fund-raising project under the auspices of the Edmonton & District Council of Churches. The campaign provides financial assistance to specific project of an organization in the Edmonton area which is building, renovating or repairing a housing facility for those in our area who have housing challenges. The 2025-26 campaign will support WIN House. This year’s WIN House project is much needed safety improvements to one of the shelter’s backyard playground spaces. This playground is vital to the families we support as many feel unsafe going to public parks and playgrounds due to the traumatic situations they are escaping. Click here for additional information about the project and to learn how to donate.
