Church Family Happenings

 March 31, 2023

At LMC

Please join us for Loaves & Fishes this Saturday from 4-6 pm at the church. It will be a potluck at the church, so please bring some food to share. We’ll also do some activities for Holy Week. We hope you can make it!

From the library: Children’s library books on Easter are on display in the library. Also, books on the Polish Mennonites in the Werder, featured on the library bulletin board, are available, in support of the March 26th Sunday School presentation.

On Easter Sunday, we will have paska and buns before the worship service. If you are planning to attend this breakfast, please sign up here so that we have enough food. If you are able to bring paska or hot cross buns, please contact the office or sign up using the sign-up sheet in the foyer

YOU ARE INVITED to join the intergenerational choir for Easter Sunday. We will be singing two exciting anthems, accompanied by brasses and organ! It’s a short term commitment with only two rehearsals: Wednesday, April 5 @7:00 pm and Saturday, April 8 @ 10:00 am. All are invited to sing and celebrate the good news that Easter brings!

If you attended Frieda Claassen’s presentation on March 26, and you would like to read Colin Neufeld and Wojciech Marchlewski’s paper “Divided Loyalties,” referenced in that presentation, you can find it here.

Everything Series: Reading Rainbows; How Our Psychology Shapes How We React to Gender and Sexual Diversity. “Sexual and gender diversity (SGD) generates much controversy, emotional intensity, and division, particularly among Christians. Why is it so challenging to exemplify truth, love, and Christian unity when we engage the rainbow? How can we develop relationships of mutual trust and understanding even when we sometimes profoundly disagree?” Dr. Heather Looy discusses the psychological factors which affect these conversations in her public lecture on April 4 at 7:00pm. Learn more and register here.

Village Goods

AGM for Village Goods April 24, 2023 – Members of your church have been involved in the operation of the Ten Thousand Villages (TTV) store in Edmonton since 1986. When MCC closed TTV Canada in 2020, the store successfully became an independent fair trade store. And we continue to need the support of folks from the Edmonton area churches.
The AGM for Village Goods (Edmonton Ten Thousand Villages Society) will take place on Monday April 24th, 7:00pm, at Lendrum Mennonite Church, 11210 59 Ave NW. All are welcome!
Membership forms can be completed at the meeting. The membership fee remains at $10 per person. A small selection of products from the store will be available for cash, cheque, or e-transfer sale. (No debit/credit.)
