Emergency Supplies Needed. MCC is planning an immediate shipment of emergency supplies to Ukraine, but our inventory of material resources is getting low. We need comforters, soap and towels as well as dignity, hygiene, infant care, relief, school and sewing kits. Your donations will provide relief and a tangible sign of hope to people in Ukraine and other difficult situations around the world.
Please contact Linda Dickinson, Material Resources Coordinator at lindadickinson@mccab.ca.
Earthquake in Afghanistan. Afghanistan is recovering from a 5.9-magnitude earthquake that happened in June, adding difficulty to an already dire situation. MCC welcomes gifts designated to Afghanistan as we continue to work with partners in the country. We currently have 3 partners and 4 projects offering programming in peacebuilding, mental health and education. A new food relief project is planned for August, as well. We can’t name any partners or locations for security reasons.

Hunger Crisis. Around 50 million people are at crisis levels of hunger, teetering on the edge of famine. That’s up from 27 million in 2019 before the pandemic began. This hunger crisis has been triggered by several factors. Conflict, disaster and rising food prices are the main things that disrupt people’s ability to access food. Mennonite Central Committee is joining with the Humanitarian Coalition to raise funds and respond with emergency supplies.
